Lunar Witchcraft: A Guide to the Waning Gibbous

Waning Gibbous:

The waning gibbous – sometimes referred to as the disseminating moon – is the sixth phase of the lunar cycle, and it is personally my favorite phase. Following the full moon many individuals feel a loss of energy when the waning gibbous finally appears, however, this energy is not for relaxation. The waning gibbous asks us to take all of the positive energy of the full moon and hold on tight. It illuminates us with wisdom and inspiration. Our intuition is still at an all time high from the full moon, giving us the ability to perform some spellwork and self-reflection. Those with the most creativity during the waning gibbous often had the most to overcome during the third quarter. We told you the hard work is worth it.

In tarot, the waning gibbous is associated with the Star. The association alone serves as a reminder there is still much greatness to come and there is much for us to work towards. The Star is associated with strength, power, inspiration, healing, and hope. This time belongs to the artists, the writers, the speakers, the performers, the teachers, and the leaders.

What to Do?

The energy of the waning gibbous is overflowing with creativity. The waning gibbous is the time for the artists to engage in their creative pursuits. If you have any drive to engage in something creative now is the time to do so. Sign up for music lessons, begin your novel, draw that landscape, or do some photography. In addition to the creative energy provided by the waning gibbous, we are also empowered by the intuition of the full moon. Self-reflection activities are a good activity to dive into during this time. You should especially focus on reflecting on your interpersonal relationships. (This is because the third quarter is a good time for letting go) In spirituality, we can use shadow work to interpret what/who we do and don’t want in our lives. Self-reflection is not the only type of learning you can do during the Waning Gibbous. You can also pursue knowledge in your personal interests. Finally, take this time to celebrate all you have accomplished so far and remind yourself there is still more work to be done.

Waning Gibbous Babies

Just as the waning gibbous provides us with great intuition and the ability to self-reflect, those who are born under it are highly self-aware and intuitive individuals. Their ability to learn and analyze makes them excellent at litigation. They are always trying to put information out into the world, this is equally matched with a desire to attain information to share. Remember learning doesn’t only refer to in-school learning, some waning gibbous babies may be drawn to learn about pop culture and talk about those interests. Their intuition gives them the opportunity to choose between helping others become their best selves and manipulating people to do things they shouldn’t. A waning gibbous baby is persuasive and their drive for knowledge can make them highly opinionated individuals. At their best, waning gibbous babies will make great changes as social activists, teachers, thinkers, philosophers, doctors, and lawyers. At their worst waning gibbous babies will make malicious leaders, criminals, and abusers. They have the power to change the world, let’s just hope they want to make a positive impact.
