Celebrated on the first of August (or February if you are in the Southern Hemisphere), Lughnasadh derives its name from the honoring of the God Lugh the Celtic God of the Son. It is one of the four ancient Irish fire festivals and marks the Celtic start of Autumn.
Morning Itinerary
We start off the morning by releasing energy. Because this is a day of harvest, you want to make sure that you do not collect and keep anything that will have a negative impact. You can start the day with Chord Cuttings and Banishing Rituals. I also recommend doing a quick hex reading in case there are any negative castings you need to remove from your life.
Once you have removed the negative energies and unwanted people from your space it is time to cleanse and purify. You can cleanse your space with incense, juniper, rosemary bundles, or even through sound. Next clean your altar. Mundane activities always have metaphysical benefits and this is one of them. Afterwards take time to recast any wards you have.
End the morning by baking, associated flavors of the day are berries, apple, cinnamon, and honey.
Afternoon Itinerary
You want to make sure the energy you collect today is exactly what you wish, so I recommend starting with a simple journal entry. Answer these two questions: What have I been able to harvest from the fruits of my labor this year? What else do I wish to have before the year is complete?
Take some time to honor the God Lugh and thank him for this day. Honor the universe by lighting candles—best colors are gold, yellow, and green. These candles are also great for bringing in abundance, wealth, and happiness.
End the afternoon with a nice walk. Maybe take some time in nature and sit down with a picnic. Bask in the energy of the sun.
Evening Itinerary
Other than his mantle as the god of the Sun and the Warrior King of the Tuatha De Dannan, Lugh is also an artist. He is the god of many man-making skills including smithcraft and poetry. As a creator we can honor him through creation. Take some time to dive into your artistic passions, create something new.
You want to end the night with a little bit of sorcery and finally your harvest. Take some time with your divination method of choice, and end with a meditation. Relax your entire body and envision yourself attracting all that you wish for.
